“Sustainable Tourism: Striking a Socio-Economic and environmental Balance.”
4-5 September 2017

to commemorate and celebrate the International Year of Sustainable Tourism 2017.

Objectives of the Seminar:

  • To provide a platform and reach out to intellectuals, policy makers, academicians, research scholars, students and entrepreneurs from and in around the country.
  • To deliberate and create awareness on issues relating to disruption of wildlife habitats.
  • To provide measures for the active participation of the local communities towards conservation and management of the environment.
  • To assess the contribution of stake-holders in environmental friendly products and services to the local community and tourists at large.


  • Investment in tourism for employment generation
  • Sustainable development towards minimizing and preservation of the environment
  • Community sensitisation on eco-tourism
  • Collaboration and active involvement of communities in planning and implementation in sustainable tourism
  • Gender based approaches towards empowerment of women
  • Collective involvement of tourism stakeholders

Guidelines for paper presenters:

  • All submissions should be in MS word format
  • Abstract of the original research/conceptual papers and empirical studies/case studies briefly describing objectives, methodology, major results and its implications. The abstract must not exceed 500 words.
  • The length of the final submission should not exceed 5000 words, excluding footnotes.
  • The abstract and the final submission must be typed in Times New Roman, with font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing.
  •  APA (American Psychological Association) (6th ed.) must be strictly adhered to while submitting the abstract and the final submission.

Authors of selected articles will be invited to present their paper in National Seminar on 4th and 5th September, 2017. The presentation will be followed by question answer-round conducted by expert panel. Please note that only selected articles will be considered for presentation. However, some papers would also be selected for publishing after further screening.

Last Date for Submission of Abstracts (Soft-copy): 15th August, 2017
Intimation on Selection of the Abstract: 18th August, 2017
Last Date for Submission of Scanned copies of Demand Draft and Registration Form: 25th August, 2017
Last Date for Submission of Full Paper: 1st September, 2017
Date of the National Seminar: 4th and 5th September, 2017

For Professionals & Research Scholars- INR 500/-
*On spot registration for students- INR 500/- and for the professionals & research scholars - INR 800/-
*Accommodation for paper presenters shall be provided
* No TA/DA for participants
Fees: There are no fees for submission of abstract, article or poster. However, registration for the seminar by the candidate is mandatory for paper presentation. Registration Fee should be paid by Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favor of “The Principal Synod College” payable at Shillong. The DD should be sent along with the Registration Form (can be downloaded from Please note that no TA / DA will be paid for participation.
